Ian Abley, Principal Consultant, FPA
Understandably, much of the support, advice and guidance focuses on life safety but resilience needs to be considered particularly when it comes to businesses such as social housing, education and healthcare premises. As such, the seminar will look at taking your fire safety further to achieve business continuity and property protection by providing greater resilience.
Performance of curtain wall systems
David Metcalfe
Curtain walls are normally used for areas of the building envelope that are not required to be fire resisting however they still require appropriate detailing to limit the spread of fire. Very little guidance is available on the subject, and this can lead to differences in interpretation and conflict over project requirements. In this session, David will discuss issues around fire stopping, combustibility/reaction to fire of materials and cavity barriers.

This session will explore the progress of British Standard EN 1364-6 and common errors that occur which prevent the successful operation of a cavity barrier.
