🧰Chancellor Rishi Sunak has today announced an extension of the Job Retention Scheme until the end of October. Our research shows that the scheme has become a key part of wider government support for businesses, with more than 70 per cent of firms surveyed furloughing a portion of their staff. Our director general Dr Adam Marshall says extension "will come as a huge help and a huge relief for businesses across the UK." See our full response below 👇 https://lnkd.in/g7MdsjZ

Fantastic final day on Thursday for the BCC's Mission to the United States. Shevaun Haviland, Anne-Marie Martin FCMI and Michelle Amos were in New York to continue vital conversations about trade between the UK and the US 🇬🇧🇺🇸. Great to hold talks with the UK's Deputy Trade Commissioner for North America John Thompson, before heading to the United Nations for a meeting with Sue Allchurch and her team at the United Nations Global Compact. The team rounded their day off by attending the 'Great Yorkshire Show Event' hosted by British Consulate General Hannah Young as part of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce's 'Old York New York' trip to the Big Apple. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Wednesday was another great day of engagement for the BCC mission to the United States. 🇺🇸🇬🇧 Shevaun Haviland, Anne-Marie Martin FCMI & Michelle Amos discussed US-UK trade opportunities, recent MoUs with several US states and the upcoming elections on both sides of the Atlantic. Fantastic to hold talks with Jake Colvin and the National Foreign Trade Council team, officials at U.S. Department of the Treasury, Brian Roraff and Nicholas Wexler from U.S. Department of State, plus Penny Naas and colleagues at the Atlantic Council. Thanks also to Accenture and BritishAmerican Business for the engaging roundtable event on AI, before the team jumped on the train to New York 🇺🇸🇬🇧
